The SGS 38259 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. Built to Series 03C standards, it features a 1/2-inch mill diameter, a 1-inch length of cut, and a 0.015-inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and extends tool life. With 2 helical flutes in a right-hand cutting direction and a medium helix angle of 30 degrees, this tool is engineered for efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting action. The Weldon flat shank provides a secure, slip-resistant grip in standard end mill holders. Machined from micrograin solid carbide stock, this end mill delivers the rigidity and edge retention required for precision roughing operations across a range of workpiece materials.
The SGS 38259 is suited for roughing operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Its short flute configuration and coarse pitch make it appropriate for aggressive stock removal where rigidity and tool stability are priorities. The single-end, centercutting geometry supports plunge entry as well as conventional and climb milling passes. This tool is commonly used in CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with end mill holders, in both job shop and production environments handling ferrous and non-ferrous components.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Secondary workpiece material classification includes hard material grade H.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Secure the Weldon flat shank firmly in a compatible end mill holder using the appropriate set screw torqued to the holder manufacturer's specification. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before tool changes. Verify runout with a dial indicator after installation to confirm proper seating before initiating a cut.
