The SGS 38252 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. With a 3/8 inch mill diameter and a 0.045 inch corner radius, it produces a controlled edge break or blend radius on machined features while maintaining tight tolerances. The 2-flute, single-end geometry features a right-hand spiral flute with a medium helix and Weldon flat shank, making it compatible with standard end mill toolholders. A TiN coating reduces friction and extends tool life in abrasive cutting environments. Overall length is 2.5 inches with a 1 inch length of cut. This tool is installed and operated by machinists, tool-and-die makers, and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
The SGS 38252 is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys including titanium. It is also rated for secondary use in hard materials. The coarse pitch and roughing material removal classification make it appropriate for aggressive stock removal passes where a corner radius profile is required. It fits standard end mill toolholders and is commonly used in vertical machining centers and manual knee mills where a 3/8 inch Weldon flat shank interface is available.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders accepting a 3/8 inch Weldon flat shank. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium, with secondary capability in hard materials.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the Weldon flat against the set screw in the toolholder and torque to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before initiating the cut, as excessive runout will accelerate wear on a corner radius tool and compromise radius accuracy.
