The SGS 38235 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in demanding metalworking applications. It features a 5/16 inch mill diameter, a 0.03 inch corner radius, and 2 helical flutes in a right-hand cutting direction. The tool measures 2.5 inches in overall length with a 13/16 inch length of cut. Built from micrograin solid carbide and left uncoated, the 38235 delivers consistent performance in roughing operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys including titanium. It is a single-end, straight-shank tool intended for use in standard end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This end mill is suited for roughing passes where a corner radius profile is required to reduce stress concentrations at the base of milled slots, pockets, and contours. The coarse pitch flute geometry and medium helix angle make it effective for material removal in ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. It is appropriate for use in job shops, production machining environments, and tool rooms where steel and stainless steel are the primary workpiece materials. The 5/16 inch shank diameter matches the mill diameter, making tool holder selection straightforward.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and superalloys and titanium. Secondary workpiece material classification includes hard materials. Part of the SGS Series 3CR line.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician using a compatible end mill holder. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping to confirm proper seating. Follow machine tool manufacturer torque specifications for the collet or set screw style holder in use.
