The SGS 38211 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It features a 3/16 inch diameter with a 0.02 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge, extending tool life in demanding applications. The 2-flute, right-hand helical geometry provides efficient chip evacuation during roughing passes. With an overall length of 2 inches and a 5/8 inch length of cut, this single-end mill is suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills where tight-tolerance profiling and slotting are required. The uncoated micrograin carbide substrate performs reliably across a broad range of workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary users of this tool.
The SGS 38211 is engineered for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium. It also handles hard materials as a secondary application. The straight cylindrical shank seats directly into standard end mill holders, making it a straightforward drop-in for existing tooling setups. Its coarse pitch and medium helix angle suit roughing operations where material removal rate matters. This tool is appropriate for both production shops and job-shop environments running a variety of workpiece materials.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders. Suitable for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials as noted in SGS Series 3CR application guidelines.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or drawbar is locked before inserting or removing the end mill. Seat the shank fully into the holder and torque the set screw or collet to the holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production run, as micrograin carbide is brittle and sensitive to misalignment-induced side loads.
