The SGS 38189 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. Built on the Series 01C platform with a Ti-NAMITE-A AlTiN coating, it handles both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. The cutter features a 3/4 inch mill diameter, a 1-1/2 inch length of cut, and a 0.0600 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the cutting edge and extends tool life. The 4-flute, right-hand spiral geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and stable, vibration-resistant cuts. Variable index spacing further reduces chatter during aggressive passes. The 3/4 inch Weldon flat shank seats securely in standard end mill toolholders.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard secondary materials. Its short length type and rigid micrograin carbide substrate make it appropriate for production environments where tool deflection and runout must be tightly controlled. Typical applications include shoulder milling, slotting, and profiling on CNC machining centers. The Weldon flat shank is compatible with standard end mill toolholders commonly found in both job shop and high-volume production settings. The tool is single-end, non-centercutting, and does not support coolant-through delivery.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders accepting a 3/4 inch Weldon flat shank. Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, and titanium, with secondary capability in hard materials.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is clean and free of debris before mounting. Torque the Weldon flat setscrew according to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout at the cutting diameter before beginning the first pass, as excessive runout will accelerate edge wear on carbide tooling.
