The SGS 38168 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. It features a 5/16 inch diameter with a 0.03 inch corner radius and a 13/16 inch length of cut, making it well suited for both roughing and finishing operations. The AlTiN (Ti-NAMITE-A) coating provides heat and wear resistance at elevated cutting temperatures. With four helical flutes and a right-hand cutting direction, this single-end tool delivers efficient chip evacuation and surface finish quality across a wide range of workpiece materials. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops and production environments will find this a reliable general-purpose end mill for precision contouring and profiling.
The SGS 38168 is intended for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Its micrograin carbide substrate and AlTiN coating make it appropriate for high-speed milling applications where tool life and dimensional consistency are priorities. The straight cylindrical shank is compatible with standard end mill holders. It is suited for use in vertical machining centers, CNC mills, and similar machine tool setups requiring a 5/16 inch tooling diameter.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders accepting a 5/16 inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per SGS Series 01C application guidelines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the end mill from the holder. Confirm proper shank engagement depth and holder torque per the machine tool manufacturer specifications before operation. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material being cut.
