The SGS 38033 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in both roughing and finishing operations. It features a 5/16 inch (0.3125 inch) mill diameter, a 0.02 inch corner radius, and 4 helical flutes with a medium helix angle. The single-end, straight-shank tool measures 2.5 inches overall length with a 13/16 inch (0.875 inch) length of cut. Manufactured from micrograin solid carbide, it delivers the hardness and edge retention required for demanding cutting applications. This tool ships uncoated (bright finish) and is intended for use in end mill holders on CNC machining centers or manual milling machines operated by skilled machinists.
The SGS 38033 is suited for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Its corner radius geometry reduces edge chipping and stress concentration at the cutting corner, making it appropriate for both semi-finish and finish passes on contoured features, pockets, and slots. The variable index design helps reduce harmonic vibration during the cut. It is well matched to applications where a controlled corner radius is required on part features.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders. Compatible with machining applications involving steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per SGS Series 1CR (Series 01C) tooling specifications.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified machinist. Verify that the end mill holder is clean and undamaged before securing the shank; proper runout directly affects corner radius accuracy and tool life. Confirm spindle speed, feed rate, and depth of cut against the material-specific cutting data provided by SGS before initiating the cut. Never exceed the tool's rated length of cut; engaging flutes beyond the 0.875 inch LOC risks tool deflection and breakage.
