The SGS 38009 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It features a 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch) mill diameter, a 5/8 inch length of cut, and a 0.015 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the tool corner and extends tool life in demanding applications. The 4-flute, right-hand helical design with a medium helix angle balances chip evacuation and surface finish. Built from micrograin carbide, this end mill handles both roughing and finishing passes in a single tool. It is installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in CNC machining centers and manual mills.
The SGS 38009 is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The long flute geometry and straight-cylindrical shank make it appropriate for applications requiring extended reach or deeper axial cuts relative to tool diameter. It is designed for use in standard end mill holders. Typical applications include profiling, slotting, and contouring where a controlled corner radius is required to avoid sharp inside corners and reduce workpiece stress risers.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders accepting a 3/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists with the machine powered down and fully stopped. Ensure the shank is seated to the full recommended grip depth in the end mill holder and that the holder is torqued to the machine manufacturer's specifications using calibrated tooling. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut. Follow applicable shop safety protocols and machine-specific operating procedures when handling carbide tooling.
