The SGS 36869 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill built for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. It features a 5/8 inch cutting diameter, a 0.04 inch corner radius, and a 1-1/4 inch length of cut, making it suitable for both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. The AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection at elevated cutting speeds. Four flutes with a variable helix and variable index design reduce harmonic vibration and chatter during aggressive cuts. The 3-1/2 inch overall length and 5/8 inch Weldon flat shank ensure rigid tool holding in standard end mill toolholders.
This end mill is designed for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It belongs to the SGS Z1PCR series and is suited for CNC milling centers running high-speed or high-feed programs in job shops, aerospace, and general metalworking environments. The short flute length and solid carbide construction make it especially effective in applications where rigidity and surface finish consistency are critical. It is a single-end, right-hand cutting, right-hand spiral tool intended for use with standard end mill toolholders.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders accepting a 5/8 inch Weldon flat shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. Compatible with hard materials as a secondary application.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state per applicable machine safety procedures. Seat the Weldon flat shank fully into the toolholder and tighten the set screw against the flat to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut. Do not use this tool for plunge cutting, as it is not center-cutting.
