The SGS 36864 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. With a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, 0.02 inch corner radius, and four flutes in a variable helix configuration, it is engineered to handle both roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. The AlTiN (TX) coating improves heat resistance and tool life when cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The Weldon flat shank provides a secure grip in end mill holders and reduces pullout risk under aggressive feed conditions. This tool belongs to the ZPCR series and is manufactured from micrograin carbide stock.
This end mill is suited for machine shops, tool and die operations, and production environments where a single tool must cover both material removal and edge finishing on hard or abrasive workpieces. Its right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting geometry match conventional CNC machining center setups. The variable helix reduces harmonic chatter, which is especially useful during long-reach passes or when cutting thin-walled features in stainless steel or superalloys. It is a single-end tool, meaning it is replaced rather than flipped when worn.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders accommodating a 3/8 inch Weldon flat shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. Secondary application covers hard materials.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the CNC spindle powered down and locked out per shop safety protocols. Secure the Weldon flat shank in a properly sized end mill holder and tighten set screws to the holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before production cuts. Do not use this tool in applications requiring center-cutting entry, as this is not a center-cutting end mill.
