The SGS 36793 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in ferrous and hard materials. Built on the ZD1CR series platform, this single-end tool features a 3/4 inch mill diameter, 15/16 inch length of cut, and a 0.06 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge. The AlTiN (TX) coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in abrasive cutting environments. With a 5.5 inch overall length and 3/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank, this tool is sized for rigid setups in standard end mill holders. Four helical flutes with variable index and variable helix geometry reduce chatter and improve surface finish across roughing and finishing passes.
This end mill is suited for milling cast iron, hardened steels, and other hard workpiece materials in both roughing and finishing operations. The extended reach design, with a 3.26 inch reach length, makes it useful for accessing deep pockets or stepped features where standard-length tools cannot reach. The corner radius geometry protects the cutting edge during full-width and heavy radial engagement cuts. It is intended for use with end mill holders and is appropriate for vertical machining centers and horizontal mills in production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron and hard materials (ISO K and H classifications). Secondary workpiece material is steel (ISO P classification). Series ZD1CR.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Secure the shank fully within the end mill holder to the recommended gauge-line depth before tightening. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut, as excessive runout will accelerate edge wear and degrade surface finish. Follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety protocols when setting speeds and feeds for carbide tooling in hard materials.
