The SGS 36785 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining applications. It features a 7/16-inch diameter with a 0.04-inch corner radius, four helical flutes with variable index and variable helix geometry, and an AlTiN (TX) coating suited for dry and high-speed cutting. The single-end design has a 9/16-inch length of cut and a 2-3/4-inch overall length. It belongs to the ZD1CR series and is built for machinists and toolroom professionals running CNC mills or machining centers on ferrous and hard materials.
This end mill is rated for roughing and finishing operations on cast iron, hard materials, and steel. The extended reach configuration with a 1-inch reach length and 0.422-inch neck diameter allows access to deeper features while maintaining rigidity. It is well suited for high-speed machining centers using end mill holders in job shop, production, and tool and die environments where surface finish and tool life on hard workpieces are critical.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders. Primary workpiece materials are cast iron and hard materials; secondary workpiece material is steel. Belongs to the SGS ZD1CR series.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank in a compatible end mill holder and verify runout before cutting. Ensure the machine spindle is at a full stop before tool changes. Consult the machine tool manufacturer and SGS cutting data recommendations for appropriate speeds and feeds for the target workpiece material.
