The SGS 36784 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. With a 3/8 inch mill diameter, a 0.0400 inch corner radius, and a 4-flute configuration with variable helix and variable index geometry, this tool balances roughing and finishing capability in a single pass. The TX coating provides enhanced wear resistance and heat management at the cutting edge. The short-length, straight-cylindrical shank design suits standard end mill toolholders used by machinists across job shops and production facilities.
This end mill is designed for cutting cast iron, hard materials, and steel. The 15/32 inch length of cut (0.4688 inches decimal), 1.01 inch reach length, and 2.5 inch overall length make it well suited for short-reach profiling, slotting, and contouring applications where rigidity and edge stability are priorities. It operates in a single-end, right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction configuration. The ZD1C series designation identifies the tool family within the SGS product line.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders. Primary workpiece materials are cast iron and hard materials (material codes K and H). Secondary workpiece material is steel (material code P). Part of the SGS ZD1C series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping specifications. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Verify shank seating depth and runout with a dial indicator before commencing a cut. Do not exceed the tool's rated length of cut when engaging the full flute length.
