The SGS 36637 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance finishing operations in ferrous and hard materials. It features an 11-flute, super close pitch configuration that delivers fine surface finishes and excellent chip management in demanding cuts. The 3/4 inch cutting diameter pairs with a 0.09 inch corner radius to reduce stress concentrations at the cutting edge and extend tool life in abrasive workpiece materials. An AlTiN (TX) coating provides thermal resistance and hardness at elevated cutting temperatures, making this tool well suited for dry or near-dry machining environments. Installed by machinists and CNC tool-setting technicians, this end mill seats into standard straight-shank end mill toolholders.
The SGS 36637 is engineered for finishing passes in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, as well as hard materials. The 1-5/8 inch length of cut and 4 inch overall length provide adequate reach for typical cavity and contour finishing applications. The right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting geometry are standard for conventional CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers. The super close pitch and 11-flute count reduce radial cutting forces per tooth, which is advantageous when machining hardened workpieces or thin-wall features where deflection must be minimized.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders accepting a 3/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. Secondary application covers hard materials. Part of the SGS Series 66C platform.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician with the machine spindle fully stopped and the control in an e-stop or locked-out state. Seat the shank to the full recommended grip depth in the toolholder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting, as excessive runout accelerates uneven flute wear and degrades surface finish. Confirm spindle direction is set to right-hand rotation before engaging the cut.
