The SGS 36630 is a single-end, corner radius end mill engineered for high-performance finishing in demanding machining applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide with an AlTiN (TX) coating, it delivers superior wear resistance and heat dissipation at elevated cutting speeds. The 9-flute, super-close-pitch design with a 35-degree helix produces excellent surface finish while maximizing material removal rates in finishing passes. The 0.03-inch corner radius protects the cutting edge and reduces stress concentration at part corners. This tool is intended for use with standard end mill toolholders and is suited to CNC milling operations performed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in production or job-shop environments.
The SGS 36630 is designed for finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, as well as hard materials. Its AlTiN coating and micrograin carbide substrate make it especially effective in high-hardness workpieces where tool life and dimensional accuracy are critical. The right-hand cut, right-hand flute configuration is the standard orientation for vertical and horizontal CNC machining centers. It is suited to applications where tight corner radius tolerances are required, with a corner radius tolerance of -0.002 to 0.000 inches.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. Secondary application covers hard materials. Part of the SGS Series 66CR family.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer torque and runout specifications. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the tool. Verify toolholder bore cleanliness and shank seating depth to maintain runout within acceptable limits for finishing work. AlTiN-coated carbide end mills are typically run dry or with air blast — consult the applicable speeds and feeds data for the specific workpiece material before cutting.
