The SGS 36624 is a 9-flute solid carbide square end mill designed for high-productivity material removal in demanding machining applications. Built from micrograin carbide and finished with an AlTiN coating, it delivers heat resistance and edge retention in difficult-to-machine materials. The tool features a 5/8-inch cutting diameter, a 1-5/8-inch length of cut, and a 3-1/2-inch overall length. A 35-degree spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation while maintaining surface finish quality. The centercutting design allows plunge entry, adding versatility in milling operations. This end mill is intended for use by machinists and CNC operators working in production and job-shop environments.
The SGS 36624 is suited for milling operations on workpiece materials categorized under ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S, covering hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, general steels, and superalloys. It is configured as a single-end tool with a straight-cylindrical shank and right-hand cut with right-hand flute direction. The regular length classification makes it appropriate for standard reach milling operations where extended reach tooling is not required. It is a practical choice for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling on CNC machining centers.
Rated for ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S, covering hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, carbon and alloy steels, and superalloys. The 5/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank with h6 tolerance fits standard 5/8-inch ER collets, milling chucks, and side-lock holders commonly used on CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, de-energized state before changing tooling. Confirm the shank is fully seated in the tool holder to the minimum insertion depth before tightening to the holder manufacturer's specifications. Inspect the cutting edges and AlTiN coating for chips or wear before each use and replace the tool if damage is observed.
