Product Description

The SGS 36623 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metal-cutting applications. It features a 0.5 inch cutting diameter, a 1.25 inch length of cut, and a 3 inch overall length with a 0.5 inch straight cylindrical shank. The 9-flute geometry paired with a 35-degree helix angle improves chip evacuation and surface finish at higher feed rates. An AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life when cutting ferrous and high-temperature alloy materials. This tool is centercutting, allowing plunge entry directly into the workpiece without a pre-drilled hole.

The SGS 36623 is suited for finish and semi-finish milling operations in aerospace, die and mold, and general machining environments. The primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, P, and S indicate compatibility with hardened steels, cast iron, stainless steel, general steel, and superalloys. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration make it compatible with standard CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers. The micrograin carbide substrate supports tight tolerances at elevated spindle speeds.

Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before tool changes. Use a calibrated toolholder torqued to the toolholder manufacturer specification and verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and coating type.
