The SGS 36618 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. Built on the SGS Z-Carb-HTA ZH1CR series platform, it features a 0.5 inch diameter, a 1.25 inch length of cut, and a corner radius of 0.0300 inches with a tolerance of -0.0020 to 0.0000 inches. The micrograin carbide substrate is coated with AlTiN (Ti-NAMITE-A), providing heat resistance and wear protection during aggressive cutting cycles. A variable helix and variable index geometry reduce harmonic vibration and chatter, making this tool well-suited for both roughing and finishing operations in a single setup. CNC machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this end mill in standard end mill toolholders.
The SGS 36618 is engineered for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. It is a single-end, right-hand cut, right-hand flute tool with a straight cylindrical shank, making it compatible with standard end mill toolholders on CNC machining centers and manual mills. The 3.25 inch overall length provides adequate reach for most general-purpose milling operations. This tool is appropriate for production environments where tool life and surface finish consistency across difficult workpiece materials are priorities.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. Secondary workpiece material compatibility includes hard materials.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom professional. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or spindle is locked out before changing tooling. Secure the shank fully within the toolholder to the recommended engagement depth for the holder type in use, and verify runout before beginning a cut. Consult the machine tool manufacturer and SGS cutting data recommendations for appropriate speeds, feeds, and depth of cut for the target workpiece material.
