The SGS 36597 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for high-performance milling across a range of workpiece materials. It features a 0.5-inch cutting diameter, a 1.25-inch length of cut, and a 0.5-inch straight-cylindrical shank. The AlTiN coating delivers excellent heat and wear resistance, extending tool life in demanding cutting conditions. The variable helix and variable index geometry reduce harmonic chatter during heavy material removal, improving surface finish and dimensional accuracy. Micrograin carbide construction supports the tight tolerances required in precision machining environments. This is a Series Z1 tool intended for use by machinists and toolroom professionals.
The SGS 36597 is suited for milling steel, cast iron, stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, and titanium, corresponding to material groups H, K, M, P, and S. Its centercutting capability allows direct plunge entry without a pilot hole, making it practical for slot milling, profiling, and pocketing operations. The spiral flute design promotes efficient chip evacuation, which is especially important in deeper cuts or when working with gummy or stringy materials.
