The SGS 36570 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. Built on the ZH1C series platform, it features a 1/4 inch mill diameter, a 1/2 inch length of cut, and a 0.0200 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the cutting edge. The 4-flute, single-end geometry uses a variable helix and variable index design — ranging from 38 to 41 degrees — to dampen vibration and improve surface finish. An AlTiN coating, marketed under the Ti-NAMITE-A designation, provides thermal resistance and hardness for extended tool life in difficult materials. Machinists and CNC programmers working with ferrous and exotic alloys will find this tool suited for both roughing and finishing passes.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with standard end mill toolholders accepting a 1/4 inch straight cylindrical shank. Primary target materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. It also carries a secondary rating for hard materials. The short flute length and 2.5 inch overall length make it appropriate for close-tolerance work where rigidity and runout control are critical. Right-hand cutting direction with right-hand flute spiral is standard for conventional spindle setups.

Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Confirm the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an appropriate safe state before tool changes. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder and torque the collet nut or set screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts, as excessive runout will accelerate edge wear on carbide tooling.
