The SGS 36543 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-performance finishing operations in demanding machining environments. With a 0.5 inch mill diameter, 1 inch length of cut, and a 3 inch overall length, this tool is built for precision work in difficult materials. The variable helix and variable index geometry reduces harmonic vibration and chatter, resulting in a smoother surface finish and extended tool life. The SGS 36543 is suited for finishing passes on materials classified under workpiece material codes H, K, M, P, and S, which correspond to hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, carbon and alloy steels, and high-temperature superalloys. The 4-flute, single-end design with right-hand cutting and right-hand spiral flutes makes it a standard choice for CNC vertical machining centers and milling applications where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are critical. The regular length designation and 0.5 inch shank diameter provide secure toolholder engagement without extended reach.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the toolholder is clean and free of chips or burrs before seating the shank to the specified depth. Machine spindle must be fully stopped and the control placed in an e-stop or lock-out state before changing tooling. Confirm runout with a dial indicator after seating and prior to the first cut to protect both the tool and the workpiece.
