The SGS 36536 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding production environments. It features a 5/8 inch cutting diameter, a 1-1/4 inch length of cut, and a 3-1/2 inch overall length. The variable helix and variable index geometry reduce harmonic chatter and improve surface finish at higher feed rates. An AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life when cutting hardened steels, stainless alloys, titanium, and cast iron. The Weldon flat shank ensures secure tool holding in standard end mill holders. This end mill is used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in CNC milling applications requiring tight tolerances and consistent performance.
The SGS 36536 is suited for milling operations on ferrous and non-ferrous materials including hardened steels, stainless steel, titanium alloys, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys, as indicated by the P, M, K, S, and H workpiece material codes. Its centercutting capability allows direct plunge entry without a pilot hole. The regular length profile fits standard spindle setups in vertical and horizontal CNC machining centers. This tool is appropriate for profiling, slotting, and peripheral milling in both roughing and finishing passes where chatter control is critical.
Designed for use in standard 5/8 inch end mill holders with Weldon flat clamping. Compatible workpiece material codes include H, K, M, P, and S, covering hardened steels, cast iron, stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, and carbon steels. Part of the SGS Series Z1 product line.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist. Secure the Weldon flat shank in a properly sized end mill holder and tighten set screws to the holder manufacturer's specified torque. Confirm runout at the cutting edge before beginning the operation. Follow all machine guarding requirements and consult the tool manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the target workpiece material before initiating a cut.
