The SGS 36532 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding material applications. Ground from micrograin carbide and coated with AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride), it delivers heat resistance and wear life in tough ferrous and exotic alloy cuts. The 0.4375 inch (7/16 inch) cutting diameter pairs with a 1 inch length of cut and a 2.75 inch overall length. Four spiral flutes with a variable helix and variable index geometry reduce chatter and harmonic vibration during full-slot and peripheral milling. The Weldon Flat shank seats securely in set-screw holders to resist pullout under heavy chip loads. Licensed machinists and CNC toolroom technicians are the primary installers of this tool.
The SGS 36532 is suited for milling ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S, covering hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, carbon steels, and high-temperature superalloys. It is center-cutting, allowing plunge entries in addition to standard peripheral and slot milling passes. The Series Z1 designation identifies it as part of SGS's general-purpose high-performance end mill family. Typical applications include profiling, contouring, and pocket milling on VMCs and HMCs where tool life and surface finish consistency are critical production requirements.
Compatible with ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer. Accepts standard 7/16 inch Weldon Flat end mill holders. Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills with appropriate collet or set-screw toolholding systems.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or lockout-tagout state before changing tooling. Seat the Weldon Flat against the set-screw fully before torquing the holder to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout at the cutting diameter with a dial indicator before beginning production cuts.
