The SGS 36506 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining applications. It features a 0.1563-inch (5/32-inch) mill diameter, a 0.6250-inch length of cut, and a 0.0150-inch corner radius with a tolerance of -0.0020 to 0.0000 inches. The tool is ground from micrograin carbide stock and finished with an AlTiN (TX) coating to extend tool life in high-heat cutting environments. Four helical flutes with a variable index and variable helix geometry reduce chatter and improve chip evacuation. Overall length is 2.0 inches with a 0.1875-inch straight cylindrical shank. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary users of this tool.
The SGS 36506 is suited for roughing and finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, as well as hard materials. The variable helix design makes it effective in difficult-to-machine alloys where standard fixed-helix tools struggle. It is used in CNC milling centers with end mill holders and is appropriate for both production shop environments and precision job-shop applications requiring tight dimensional control. The single-end configuration and standard-length profile make it a common choice for general-purpose contouring, slotting, and profiling passes.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium; secondary application is hard materials. Part of the SGS Z16C series of corner radius end mills.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. The tool must be seated fully and concentrically in the end mill holder before securing, and holder runout should be verified before beginning a cut. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Do not use this tool in applications requiring center-cutting entry, as this is a non-centercutting design.
