The SGS 36474 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. Built on the ZPCR series platform, it features a 1-inch cutting diameter, a 1.5-inch length of cut, and a 0.04-inch corner radius that reduces edge stress and extends tool life in both roughing and finishing passes. The variable helix geometry minimizes chatter and harmonics during aggressive cuts. An AlTiN (TX) coating provides thermal resistance and hardness at elevated cutting temperatures. With a 6-inch overall length and 4-inch reach, this tool is suited for deep-pocket and extended-reach applications requiring rigidity and surface consistency.
This end mill is intended for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, as well as hard materials. It performs in both roughing and finishing operations on CNC machining centers in job shop, production, and aerospace environments. The straight cylindrical shank is sized at 1 inch and is compatible with standard end mill holders. The single-end, right-hand cutting configuration with right-hand flute direction fits conventional CNC milling setups. The short-length-type classification and micrograin carbide substrate make it particularly effective in applications requiring tight tolerances and consistent surface finish on difficult-to-machine alloys.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders accepting a 1-inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. Compatible workpiece material codes: P, M, K, S, and H per ISO classification.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer is disabled before installing or removing the end mill. Seat the shank fully in the holder to the manufacturer-recommended gauge length and torque the retention mechanism per the holder specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, as excessive runout will accelerate edge wear and degrade surface finish.
