The SGS 36449 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for demanding metal removal in ferrous and exotic alloy applications. Built on the ZPCR series platform, it features a 1/4 inch mill diameter with a 0.02 inch corner radius that protects the cutting edge and reduces stress concentration at part corners. The variable helix and variable index geometry help suppress chatter and improve surface finish across a range of cutting conditions. A TiN coating adds surface hardness and heat resistance, extending tool life in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in CNC milling environments.
The SGS 36449 is suited for both roughing and finishing operations on ferrous and hard materials in vertical and horizontal machining centers. The extended reach design, with a 2.125 inch reach length and a reduced 0.23 inch neck diameter, allows access to deep features and pocketed geometries where standard-length tools cannot reach. It seats in standard end mill holders and is appropriate for shops running steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard secondary materials. The right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting orientation are standard for conventional CNC milling setups.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. Secondary workpiece material compatibility includes hard materials.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with CNC tooling and machine setup procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing or inspecting tooling. Seat the shank fully into the end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism per the holder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, particularly given the reduced neck diameter on this extended-reach tool.
