The SGS 36430 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. Built to Series Z1 specifications, it features a 15/32-inch (0.4688-inch) cutting diameter, a 1-inch length of cut, and a 1/2-inch straight-cylindrical shank. The AlTiN coating provides thermal and oxidation resistance at elevated cutting temperatures. A variable helix and variable index geometry reduce harmonic vibration and chatter, improving surface finish and tool life. Micrograin carbide construction delivers the rigidity needed for harder workpiece materials. This tool weighs 0.28 pounds and is suited for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills.
The SGS 36430 is intended for milling operations across a broad range of workpiece material categories, including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, carbon and alloy steels, and high-temperature alloys, corresponding to material codes H, K, M, P, and S. With a 3-inch overall length and regular-length classification, it fits standard toolholding systems used in production and job-shop environments. Machinists working in aerospace, die-mold, and general metalworking applications will find this geometry suited to slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling passes.
Compatible with workpiece material categories H (hardened steels), K (cast irons), M (stainless steels), P (carbon and alloy steels), and S (high-temperature alloys and titanium). Accepts standard 1/2-inch collets and toolholders.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the shank is fully seated and properly torqued in the toolholder collet or chuck before running. This end mill is not centercutting and should not be used for direct plunge cuts into solid material. Verify workpiece fixturing rigidity before engaging cuts to protect both the tool and the workpiece.
