The SGS 36389 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining applications. With a 3/4 inch mill diameter, 1-1/2 inch length of cut, 4-inch overall length, and a 1/8 inch corner radius, this tool handles both roughing and finishing operations in a single setup. The 4-flute, right-hand helical configuration paired with a variable index and variable helix geometry reduces chatter and improves surface finish at higher feed rates. An AlTiN (TX) coating provides thermal and wear resistance for cutting in ferrous and hard materials without coolant through the tool.
The SGS 36389 is suited for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, as well as hard materials. It is intended for use in CNC milling centers with end mill holders using a straight-cylindrical shank. The short flute length relative to diameter makes it rigid enough for slotting, profiling, and corner-radius contouring where tool deflection must be minimized. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops, aerospace, and general metalworking will find this a practical choice for multi-material production runs.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders accepting a 3/4 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium; secondary workpiece material is hard material. Part of the SGS ZPCR series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the recommended engagement depth in the end mill holder and torque the set screw or collet per the holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, as runout beyond acceptable limits will accelerate wear and reduce corner radius tolerance.
