The SGS 36348 is a single-end ball end mill designed for high-performance finishing operations in demanding machining environments. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with AlTiN, it delivers hardness and thermal resistance suited for dry or high-speed cutting. The 0.5 inch diameter cutting head is paired with a 1 inch length of cut and a 3 inch overall length, making it a standard-reach tool for a wide range of milling applications. Variable helix geometry and variable index reduce harmonic chatter and improve surface finish. This end mill is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers working in precision metalworking and tool and die applications.
The SGS 36348 is suited for finishing passes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials including hardened steels, stainless steels, titanium alloys, cast irons, and high-temperature alloys, corresponding to ISO workpiece material codes H, K, M, P, and S. The 4-flute spiral configuration supports efficient chip evacuation during finishing cuts. Its right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are consistent with standard CNC milling machine spindle rotation. The AlTiN coating extends tool life in abrasive and elevated-temperature cutting conditions without requiring coolant through the tool body.
Designed for use in standard CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 0.5 inch straight shank. Suitable for ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the 0.5 inch shank securely in a compatible collet or end mill holder and verify runout before beginning a cut. Consult the machine manufacturer and applicable shop safety standards for proper tool holding torque and RPM limits for this diameter and material combination.
