The SGS 36216 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. It features a 0.5 inch cutting diameter with a 0.06 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the cutting edge and extends tool life in demanding materials. The 4-flute, right-hand spiral geometry with a 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. A TiCN coating provides enhanced hardness and wear resistance compared to uncoated carbide. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers in job shop and production environments.
The SGS 36216 suits general-purpose profiling, slotting, and contouring on ferrous and non-ferrous metals where a radiused corner is specified. Its center-cutting design allows plunge entry as well as conventional side milling. The regular-length configuration fits standard toolholding in vertical and horizontal machining centers. The coarse pitch classification and right-hand cutting direction make it a practical choice for a wide range of roughing and semi-finishing passes on steel, stainless steel, and similar alloys.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option for 0.5 inch straight-shank toolholders including collet chucks, end mill holders, and hydraulic chucks used in CNC machining centers.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and the control in a safe state per shop safety protocols. Ensure the 0.5 inch shank is seated to the full recommended grip length in the toolholder and that runout is verified before cutting. Cutting parameters including feed rate, speed, and depth of cut should be selected based on workpiece material and machine rigidity — do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended values for this diameter and coating. Inspect the corner radius and cutting edges for wear or chipping at regular intervals to maintain dimensional accuracy.
