The SGS 36118 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It features a 0.5 inch cutting diameter, a 1 inch length of cut (LOC), and a 0.06 inch corner radius that helps reduce stress concentrations at the bottom of a cut and extend tool life. The four-flute, right-hand spiral geometry paired with an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating makes this tool well suited for high-speed and high-temperature cutting environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators rely on tools like the 36118 for finishing passes and profiling work where a sharp, consistent corner radius is critical to part accuracy.
The SGS 36118 is appropriate for CNC machining centers, vertical mills, and manual mills running interpolated or ramping tool paths. Its center-cutting capability allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole. The 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation during slotting and side-milling operations. With a 0.5 inch shank diameter and 3 inch overall length (OAL), it fits standard ER and end mill holders used in production and job-shop environments. This is a general-purpose tool for shops working in steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar materials where AlTiN coating performance is required.
Designed as a standard-shank solid carbide corner radius end mill compatible with 0.5 inch end mill holders, collet chucks, and ER collet systems used on CNC and manual milling machines.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per shop safety protocols. Verify that the holder bore and collet are clean and free of chips before seating the shank to the full gauge-line depth. Torque the collet nut or set screw per the toolholder manufacturer specifications, not SGS specifications, as clamping requirements vary by holder design. Always confirm runout with a dial indicator after setup before initiating a cut.
