The SGS 36109 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations requiring a controlled edge radius and tight tolerances. It features a 5/16 inch cutting diameter, a 3/4 inch length of cut, and a 0.045 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and extends tool life in demanding materials. The 3-flute geometry with right-hand cutting and right-hand spiral flutes balances chip evacuation with surface finish quality. A TiN coating adds surface hardness and reduces friction, making this tool well-suited for production environments. The 40-degree helix angle promotes smooth cutting action and minimizes chatter across a range of workpiece materials.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual mills for slotting, profiling, and pocket milling operations where a radius edge is required to prevent corner chipping or meet part geometry specifications. Its centercutting capability allows direct plunge entry into a workpiece without a pre-drilled pilot hole. The regular length configuration suits standard-depth applications in tool rooms, job shops, and production floor environments. Machinists working with ferrous metals, aluminum alloys, and similar materials will find this geometry appropriate for a wide range of general-purpose and finish milling tasks.
Designed as an OEM-style cutting tool for use in standard CNC or manual milling machine spindles accepting a 5/16 inch shank diameter. Part of the SGS Series 61 corner radius end mill family.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard toolholding procedures. Secure the 5/16 inch shank in a collet or end mill holder to the appropriate clamping torque for the holder type in use. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts, as excessive runout accelerates carbide wear and reduces surface finish quality. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut or feed rate for the workpiece material and machine rigidity.
