The SGS 35689 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in non-ferrous metal applications. It features a 0.5-inch mill diameter, a 0.03-inch corner radius, and a TiB2 coating marketed under the Ti-NAMITE-B designation, which provides hardness and wear resistance suited to aluminum, brass, copper, and similar materials. The three-flute, right-hand helical design supports efficient chip evacuation during roughing operations. With a 5/8-inch length of cut, a 3-inch overall length, and a straight cylindrical 0.5-inch shank, it mounts directly into standard end mill holders used in CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This end mill is intended for short-reach roughing operations on non-ferrous metals in production and job-shop environments. The coarse pitch and high helix angle promote aggressive chip removal while keeping heat and tool deflection manageable. It is a single-end, centercutting tool suited for slot milling, profiling, and pocket roughing where corner radius geometry helps reduce stress concentrations at inside corners. Machinists and CNC programmers working with aluminum or other non-ferrous stock will find this geometry appropriate for both roughing passes and semi-finish work requiring a controlled corner break.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders and collet-style toolholding systems. Primary workpiece material classification is non-ferrous metal (material code N), including aluminum, brass, copper, and similar alloys. Listed under SGS Series 43CR.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the tool. Confirm the shank is fully seated and the holder is torqued according to the toolholder manufacturer specification before initiating a cut. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut or axial engagement for the flute length, as overloading a short-flute end mill can cause tool breakage.
