The SGS 35597 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling of non-ferrous metals. It features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter, a 5/8 inch length of cut, and a 0.01 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations at the cutting edge. With 3 right-hand helical flutes and a high helix angle of 38 degrees, this tool promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. The single-end design runs in standard end mill holders with a 1/2 inch straight cylindrical shank. It ships uncoated and is classified as a short-length, coarse-pitch roughing tool in the SGS Series 43CR line. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production or maintenance environments are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is intended for milling operations on non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, brass, copper, and similar materials. The corner radius geometry makes it well suited for finishing floor-to-wall transitions in pockets and slots where a sharp inside corner is not required. At 3 inches overall length with a 1/2 inch shank, it fits standard end mill holders and collet chucks on vertical and horizontal machining centers as well as manual knee mills. It is used in both production shops and tool rooms where controlled corner geometry and consistent chip flow are priorities.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders. Intended for non-ferrous metal workpieces as classified under primary material code N. Part of the SGS Series 43CR corner radius end mill line.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or spindle lock is engaged before mounting or removing the end mill. Seat the shank fully into the holder and torque the set screw or collet nut according to the holder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cutting program, as runout beyond acceptable limits accelerates wear and reduces corner radius accuracy.
