The SGS 35479 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling of non-ferrous metals and similar materials. With a 3/16 inch cutting diameter, 4 flutes, and a 30-degree helix angle, it delivers efficient chip evacuation and clean edge geometry in demanding machining environments. The micrograin carbide construction provides wear resistance and dimensional stability under high-speed cutting conditions. Overall length is 2 inches, with a 9/16 inch length of cut and a 3/16 inch straight cylindrical shank. This tool is used by machinists and toolroom professionals running CNC mills, manual knee mills, and similar machine tools.
The SGS 35479 is suited for milling operations on non-ferrous metals including aluminum, brass, copper, and similar soft or medium-hardness materials. It is a single-end, right-hand cut tool with right-hand flute direction, making it compatible with standard spindle rotation. The regular length classification and straight shank make it a straightforward drop-in for most standard collet systems. It is appropriate for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling passes where tight dimensional tolerances are required.
Designed as a direct-use solid carbide square end mill for non-ferrous metal milling applications. The 3/16 inch straight cylindrical shank is compatible with standard ER collets, end mill holders, and similar toolholding systems sized for 3/16 inch shanks.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist familiar with proper toolholding torque procedures and machine setup. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the end mill from the collet or holder. Confirm shank engagement depth meets the toolholder manufacturer minimum insertion requirements before operation. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage prior to each use, as carbide tools are brittle and can fail if run with edge damage.
