The SGS 35301 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for precision milling in non-ferrous metals and similar materials. It features a 3/32 inch (0.0938 inch) cutting diameter, a 3/8 inch length of cut, and a 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. The two-flute design combined with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation in softer, gummier materials where flute packing is a common failure mode. A TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) coating adds surface hardness and reduces built-up edge. The tool is centercutting, allowing plunge entry as well as peripheral and slot milling operations. At 1-1/2 inches overall length, the 35301 is a compact, rigid tool suited for fine-detail work in dies, molds, and small-part machining.
The SGS 35301 belongs to the Series 52 product family and is intended for machining non-ferrous metals including aluminum, brass, copper, and similar materials. Its small diameter and short overall length make it well suited for CNC machining centers and CNC mills handling small-envelope workpieces. Typical applications include slot milling, pocketing, contouring, and plunge operations where precise dimensional control in tight geometries is required. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional CNC spindle rotation.
Designed as a Series 52 OEM-style solid carbide square end mill for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills with 1/8 inch collet or end mill holder tooling. Primary workpiece material designation is non-ferrous metal (Material Code N).
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Seat the shank to the recommended minimum engagement depth per your toolholder specification — insufficient shank engagement on small-diameter tooling is a leading cause of tool pullout and breakage. Verify runout with a dial indicator after tightening; excessive runout accelerates wear and chipping on carbide tools at this diameter.
