The SGS 35283 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precise milling operations in non-ferrous metal applications. With a 5/16-inch mill diameter, a 13/16-inch length of cut, and a 30-degree helix angle, this tool is built for right-hand cutting in spiral flute configurations. The micrograin carbide substrate provides edge retention and dimensional stability under demanding machining conditions. It is a single-end, center-cutting design with a straight cylindrical shank, making it compatible with standard collet and end mill holders. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops, fabrication facilities, and production environments are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is intended for machining non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, brass, copper, and similar materials where a bright, uncoated finish is appropriate. The 2-flute configuration promotes chip evacuation in softer, gummier materials where chip load management is critical. It fits the SGS Series 52 regular-length line and is well-suited for profiling, slotting, and peripheral milling operations on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and direct-fit tool within the SGS Series 52 regular-length square end mill line, intended for use with standard 5/16-inch collets and end mill holders in CNC and manual milling applications on non-ferrous workpieces.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Verify that the collet or holder matches the 5/16-inch shank diameter to maintain runout tolerances within the specified mill diameter tolerance of +0.000/-0.002 inches. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and machine manufacturer guidelines when setting tool offsets and feed rates.
