The SGS 35281 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling of non-ferrous metals and similar materials. With a 0.250 inch mill diameter, 0.750 inch length of cut, and a 2-flute right-hand spiral configuration at a 30-degree helix angle, it delivers clean, accurate cuts in demanding shop environments. The straight cylindrical shank measures 0.250 inches in diameter with a tight tolerance of +0.00000/-0.00035 inches, ensuring secure tool holding. Machinists and CNC operators rely on this type of end mill for slotting, profiling, and plunge operations where dimensional accuracy matters.
This end mill is suited for milling non-ferrous metals including aluminum, brass, copper, and similar materials. Its centercutting geometry allows both peripheral and plunge milling, making it versatile for pocket milling and contour work. The uncoated solid carbide construction is well matched to applications where coolant is used and tool re-sharpening is a consideration. At 2.5 inches overall length in a regular-length format, it fits standard tool holders used in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills alike.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard tooling option within the SGS Series 52 end mill line, sized for 1/4 inch collets and tool holders in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully powered down and locked out before tool changes. Seat the straight cylindrical shank fully into the collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism according to the tool holder manufacturer's specifications. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use. Follow applicable shop safety standards and machine manufacturer guidelines for speeds, feeds, and depth of cut when setting up for a new operation.
