The SGS 34867 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling of non-ferrous metals and similar materials. With a 0.5-inch mill diameter, a 2.5-inch length of cut, and a 5-inch overall length, this tool is built for consistent material removal in demanding shop environments. The TiB2 (titanium diboride) coating reduces built-up edge and improves surface finish on aluminum, copper, brass, and other non-ferrous workpiece materials. Three spiral flutes with a 38-degree helix angle promote chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators working in production and job-shop settings.
This end mill fits standard 0.5-inch straight-cylindrical shank tool holders and is suited for vertical machining centers, knee mills, and CNC routers handling non-ferrous metals. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral and slot milling. The Series 43 designation places it within SGS's catalog of general-purpose carbide end mills optimized for the N-material group. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is the standard orientation for most CNC and manual milling setups.
Designed as a drop-in replacement-style end mill for any application requiring a 0.5-inch diameter, 3-flute, solid carbide square end mill with a 0.5-inch straight shank in the SGS Series 43 product line.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or quill is locked before changing tooling. Clean the shank and tool holder bore before seating to maintain runout tolerance - shank diameter tolerance is held to h6 per ISO standard. Verify tool projection and length of cut clearance before running the first pass, and confirm spindle direction matches the right-hand cut geometry of this tool.
