The SGS 34798 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling of non-ferrous metals. It features a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 1 inch length of cut, and a 0.0100 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and extends tool life in high-cycle applications. The 3-flute geometry paired with a high-helix, 38-degree spiral flute design promotes efficient chip evacuation in aluminum, copper, brass, and similar materials. A TiB2 (Ti-NAMITE-B) coating provides hardness and lubricity suited to non-ferrous machining. This tool is used by machinists and CNC operators in job shops, aerospace fabrication, and general metalworking environments.
The SGS 34798 is engineered for roughing operations in non-ferrous metal workpieces, including aluminum alloys, copper, and brass. Its coarse pitch and right-hand cutting direction with right-hand flute spiral make it a standard choice for slotting, peripheral milling, and profiling cuts where corner integrity matters. The single-end configuration and straight cylindrical shank are compatible with standard end mill toolholders. It is well-suited for CNC machining centers and manual vertical mills running high-speed passes in non-ferrous material stock.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders. Primary workpiece material is non-ferrous metal (material code N), including aluminum alloys, copper, and brass. Part of the SGS Series 43CR product line.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out state per applicable shop safety procedures. Ensure the toolholder collet or chuck is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping, as shank diameter tolerance is h6. Do not use this tool on ferrous materials, as the TiB2 coating and geometry are optimized specifically for non-ferrous applications.
