The SGS 34797 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-efficiency material removal in non-ferrous metal applications. Built to Series 43CR specifications, it features a 5/16-inch mill diameter, a 0.03-inch corner radius, and a TiB2 (Ti-NAMITE-B) coating that reduces built-up edge and extends tool life in aluminum, copper, and similar workpiece materials. With 3 helical flutes and a high helix angle of 38 degrees, the tool promotes aggressive chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. It is a single-end, right-hand cut design intended for use in CNC machining centers or manual mills with standard end mill holders.
This end mill is suited for roughing operations on non-ferrous metals in production and job-shop environments. The short-length flute geometry and straight cylindrical shank make it a practical choice for pocketing, slotting, and peripheral milling passes where rigidity matters. A 5/8-inch length of cut accommodates moderate-depth passes, while the 2-1/2-inch overall length keeps overhang minimal. Machinists and CNC operators working with aluminum alloys, brass, and other N-code workpiece materials will find this tool fits standard end mill holder setups without special tooling.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders. Primary workpiece material is non-ferrous metal (Material Application Code: N). Part of the SGS Series 43CR corner radius end mill family.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup technicians using a compatible end mill holder torqued per the holder manufacturer's specifications. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or quill is locked before inserting or removing the tool. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production run, as excessive runout accelerates corner radius wear. This tool is not center-cutting and should not be plunged axially into solid material.
