The SGS 34779 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in non-ferrous metal applications. With a 0.5-inch mill diameter, a 0.0300-inch corner radius, and a 3-flute right-hand spiral configuration, this tool delivers consistent cutting geometry and chip evacuation. The bright, uncoated finish is suited to materials where coating adhesion is not required. The 38-degree high helix angle promotes efficient chip flow and reduced cutting forces in aluminum, copper, brass, and similar non-ferrous workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in job shops, production machining, and tool-and-die environments specify this end mill for finish and semi-finish passes where corner geometry must be held within tight tolerances.
This end mill is built for use in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills equipped with end mill toolholders accepting a 0.5-inch straight cylindrical shank. Its 1.25-inch length of cut supports moderate-depth slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations in non-ferrous metals. The coarse pitch flute geometry and single-end construction are common in roughing-oriented material removal cycles where chip clearance and tool rigidity are priorities. The Series 43CR designation identifies it within the SGS corner radius product line.
Designed for use with standard end mill toolholders accepting a 0.5-inch straight cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material is non-ferrous metal (material code N), including aluminum, copper, and brass alloys.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked before changing tooling. Secure the shank to the full engagement depth recommended by the toolholder manufacturer to avoid deflection during cutting. Do not exceed the rated length of cut when setting axial depth of cut, as extended overhang beyond the flute length reduces rigidity and can cause tool failure.
