The SGS 34706 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling of non-ferrous metals. It features a 5/16-inch cutting diameter, a 7/16-inch length of cut, and a 2-inch overall length, making it a compact, regular-length tool suited for slot milling, profiling, and shoulder cuts. With three flutes and a 38-degree helix angle, it promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action in aluminum, brass, copper, and similar non-ferrous workpiece materials. The straight cylindrical shank measures 5/16 inch in diameter for straightforward collet or chuck mounting. This tool is used by machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, production facilities, and maintenance environments.
The SGS 34706 is intended for use in non-ferrous metal milling applications where tight tolerances and clean finishes are required. Its regular length profile fits standard toolholding setups on vertical and horizontal machining centers as well as manual mills. The uncoated solid carbide construction suits high-speed cutting of materials such as aluminum alloys, copper, and brass. It is not designed for ferrous metal machining. Machinists running production runs or prototype work on non-ferrous parts will find this a straightforward drop-in selection for 5/16-inch toolpaths.
Designed as a regular-length replacement or drop-in square end mill for 5/16-inch toolholders and collets used in non-ferrous metal milling applications. Part of SGS Series 43.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the collet or toolholder. Verify collet size matches the 5/16-inch shank diameter before tightening. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and tooling manufacturer guidelines for runout, stick-out length, and cutting parameters appropriate to the workpiece material and machine horsepower.
