The SGS 34705 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precise milling operations in non-ferrous metals and similar materials. With a 0.25 inch cutting diameter, a 1.25 inch length of cut, and a 38-degree helix angle, this tool delivers clean, accurate cuts in aluminum, brass, copper, and other N-group workpiece materials. The three-flute geometry balances chip evacuation with tool rigidity, making it a reliable choice for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling. Solid carbide construction provides superior hardness and wear resistance compared to high-speed steel. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shops and production environments are the primary users of this tool.
This end mill is suited for use in CNC machining centers and manual knee mills where non-ferrous metal removal is the primary application. The 0.25 inch straight cylindrical shank fits standard ER collet chucks and end mill holders. The 3.5 inch overall length accommodates setups requiring moderate reach without sacrificing rigidity. The regular-length classification places it in standard tooling inventories for general-purpose work rather than deep-cavity or extended-reach applications. It ships as a single unit and is intended for direct replacement or new tooling setups.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-setup solid carbide square end mill for use in standard 0.25 inch collet chucks, ER collet systems, and end mill holders on CNC machining centers and manual mills. Primary workpiece material classification is non-ferrous metal (Material Code N). Part of the SGS Series 43 end mill family.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked or e-stopped state before tool changes. Ensure the collet or end mill holder is clean and free of chips before seating the shank. Torque collet nuts to the tool holder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with a dial indicator after installation before beginning a cut, particularly for tight-tolerance applications.
