The SGS 34687 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for finishing operations in non-ferrous metal applications. Part of the Series 47EB, it features a 0.375-inch mill diameter with a 0.5-inch length of cut and a 35-degree helix angle ground into a right-hand spiral flute configuration. The TiB2 (titanium diboride) coating reduces friction and extends tool life in aluminum and other non-ferrous materials. With a 4-inch overall length and an extended reach neck, this is a single-end, 2-flute tool built from micrograin carbide for dimensional accuracy and edge integrity in CNC finishing passes.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills running non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, brass, and copper alloys. The long-reach geometry and 1.625-inch neck length make it appropriate for deep-pocket and contoured-surface work where a standard-length tool cannot reach the workpiece. The 0.36-inch neck diameter provides clearance without sacrificing rigidity along the reach. Machinists and CNC operators running finish passes on complex 3D profiles will find the ball nose geometry and fine micrograin carbide construction appropriate for this class of work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option for CNC machining setups requiring a 3/8-inch shank ball end mill in the Series 47EB long-reach configuration for non-ferrous finishing applications.
Installation requires a compatible 3/8-inch tool holder or collet chuck — verify runout and holder cleanliness before seating the shank. Power down the spindle and engage the machine lock before tool changes. Shank diameter tolerance is +0.00000 to -0.00035 inches, so use a properly sized collet for secure clamping without shank damage. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling manufacturer guidelines for speed and feed selection based on workpiece material and depth of cut.
