The SGS 34686 is a single-end ball end mill designed for finishing operations in non-ferrous metals. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with TiB2, it delivers the wear resistance and edge retention needed for high-precision contouring and profiling. The tool runs a 0.25-inch diameter with a 0.375-inch length of cut and a 35-degree helix angle, producing smooth surface finishes at efficient chip loads. The extended-reach geometry — featuring a 1.75-inch neck length and a 0.235-inch neck diameter — allows access to deep pockets and contoured cavities without sacrificing rigidity. Two right-hand spiral flutes clear chips effectively in aluminum, copper, brass, and similar non-ferrous workpiece materials.
The SGS 34686 is suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills handling non-ferrous metal finishing work in job shop, production, and toolroom environments. Its long overall length of 4 inches and extended neck make it a practical choice for deep-cavity work where standard-length end mills cannot reach. The 0.25-inch shank fits standard collets and end mill holders commonly found on vertical machining centers.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or tool holder and torque the retention mechanism to the machine or holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning cuts, particularly given the extended-reach neck geometry.
