The SGS 34665 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in CNC and manual milling applications. It features a 0.5 inch cutting diameter, a 1.25 inch length of cut, and a 3.25 inch overall length with a 0.5 inch straight cylindrical shank. The TiB2 (titanium diboride) coating reduces friction and improves tool life in non-ferrous cutting operations. With a 35-degree helix angle and a two-flute spiral configuration, this end mill promotes efficient chip evacuation and clean finishes. It is centercutting, allowing plunge cuts, and runs right-hand cut with right-hand flute orientation. Solid carbide construction provides rigidity and wear resistance well beyond high-speed steel alternatives.
The SGS 34665 is engineered primarily for non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, brass, copper, and similar materials. It suits production and job-shop environments where tight tolerances and consistent surface finish are required. The regular-length geometry makes it appropriate for standard depth-of-cut applications without the deflection concerns associated with extended-reach tooling. Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the control is in an E-stop or tool-change state before inserting or removing the end mill. Clean the collet bore and shank before seating to maintain runout tolerances. Follow the tool manufacturer and machine OEM guidelines for torque values when tightening collet nuts, and verify tool stick-out against the programmed depth of cut before starting the spindle.
