The SGS 34628 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-precision milling of non-ferrous metals and similar materials. This single-end tool features a 1-inch cutting diameter, a 2-inch length of cut, and a 4-1/2-inch overall length. The 35-degree helix spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. With two flutes and a right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation, it suits standard CNC and manual milling operations. The centercutting design allows for direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole. Machinists and toolroom operators working in job shops, production facilities, and maintenance environments rely on this Series 47 end mill for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling tasks.
The SGS 34628 is intended for use on non-ferrous metals, including aluminum, brass, copper, and similar materials designated under the N workpiece material code. Its uncoated solid carbide construction is well suited for applications where sharp edges and close tolerances are required without the additional heat resistance of a coating. The straight-cylindrical shank with a 1-inch diameter provides secure tool holding in standard ER collets and end mill holders. This is a regular-length tool, making it appropriate for most general-purpose milling setups where extended reach is not required.
Designed for use in standard CNC machining centers and manual mills with tool holders or collets accepting a 1-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material compatibility is non-ferrous metals per the N material code designation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines for tool holding and runout specifications. Ensure the spindle and tool holder are clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Confirm that the collet or end mill holder is rated for the shank diameter and that retention torque is applied per the tool holder manufacturer specification. Always power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling.
