The SGS 34528 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling of non-ferrous metals. Built to Series 44 standards, it features a 0.75-inch mill diameter, a 3-inch length of cut, and a 45-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The micrograin carbide substrate provides hardness and edge retention, while the titanium diboride coating reduces friction and extends tool life in demanding applications. This is a single-end, right-hand cut tool with a spiral flute configuration and a Weldon flat shank for positive drive in the spindle. Installed by machinists and tooling specialists on CNC mills and manual knee mills alike.
The SGS 34528 is suited for milling, slotting, and profiling in non-ferrous materials including aluminum, brass, copper, and similar alloys. Its stub-length classification and 5.25-inch overall length make it a practical choice for general-purpose work where rigidity and access balance each other. The Weldon flat shank provides a secure, slip-resistant connection in side-lock toolholders. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry when the application requires it, adding versatility to standard peripheral milling operations.
Designed for use with standard 0.75-inch side-lock and Weldon flat toolholders on CNC machining centers and manual mills. Optimized for non-ferrous metal workpiece materials as indicated by the N material code classification.
Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is clean and free of debris before seating the end mill. Torque the Weldon flat setscrew against the flat of the shank according to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout at the cutting edge with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut.
