The SGS 34023 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in non-ferrous metals. Built to Series APF standards, it features a 1/2 inch mill diameter, a 2 inch length of cut, and a 0.12 inch corner radius that reduces edge chipping and extends tool life in demanding applications. The 4-flute, right-hand helical design with a high helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation. A TiB2 (Ti-NAMITE-B) coating reduces friction and heat buildup at the cutting edge. This tool is used by machinists and tooling specialists working on CNC machining centers in production and job shop environments.
The 34023 is suited for roughing and finishing operations on non-ferrous metals, including aluminum alloys and similar materials. The extended reach design, with a 2-3/8 inch reach length and a 0.478 inch neck diameter, allows access to deeper features and pocketing applications where clearance is limited. The straight-cylindrical shank is compatible with standard end mill holders. Variable index geometry helps reduce harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts. Coolant-through capability supports higher feed rates and improved chip flushing in deep-cavity work.
Designed for use with standard end mill holders. Intended for non-ferrous metal applications per Series APF specifications. Consult holder manufacturer tolerances against the h6 shank diameter tolerance before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the straight-cylindrical shank fully in the end mill holder and torque the retention hardware per the holder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout with an indicator before beginning a cut, as runout exceeding the stated mill diameter tolerance of -0.0020 to 0.0004 inch can accelerate wear and affect surface finish.
